Let the games begin: everything for everyone!

* 1pm Sunday 24th August in Shoreditch Park *

Join us for a protest pic-nic at Shoreditch Festival
( http://www.shoreditchfestival.org.uk/sunday24.html ) , where Hackney Council will be marking the official handover of the Olympic Games from Beijing to London at 2.30pm. This will take the form of a 1948-themed street party: the last time the Games were in London.

Bring banners, sports equipment and food to share and consider dressing accordingly.

Let the Games begin!

The Swan pub on Clapton Common, E5, is threatened with closure. This is a popular local drinking hole.

Campaign meeting Sunday 31st August, 7.00pm at The Swan.

With a speaker from the successful campaign to save The Fountain pub in Tottenham.

Campaigners from Queens Market, Newham and Wards Corner, Seven Sisters - both markets threatened with "regeneration" - will be protesting outside City Hall on Wednesday 10 September from 9.15 am. Support welcome.

Tenants and residents of Frampton Park Estate and supporters will be demonstrating at a full council meeting against the Estates Plus programme to sell land for building on council estates in Hackney.
Residents will also present a deputation to councillors at the meeting to explain their opposition.
