FRIENDS OF HACKNEY NURSERIES INVITE YOU TO A HUSTINGS MEETING -

THURSDAY 29TH APRIL, 6:30 P.M., OLD FIRE STATION, LESWIN ROAD

In the last few days, under cover of the election, many community nurseries have been told that, with immediate effect, they will be having cuts in their budget of up to 60%. This means cuts of £40,000 to £50,000, which will lead to the serious threat of nursery closures, and hardship and distress for parents, workers and children. Meanwhile, the Learning Trust and Hackney Council are denying that there is a programme of cuts to nursery provision.

Friends of Hackney Nurseries want to know the truth, and they want to know where all the different political parties stand on this issue, and others related to children and young people.

So we have invited Rita Krishna, currently Cabinet Member of Hackney Council with responsibility for Children and Young People, who is standing for re-election as a Labour Party candidate in Stoke Newington Central ward, and all the other candidates who are standing in the elections on Thursday 6th May, to a hustings meeting to discuss their parties' policies regarding nurseries and young people generally.

The meeting will be held at the Old Fire Station, 61 Leswin Road, London N16 7NX, at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday 29th April 2010.

All welcome -- come armed with your questions. This is your chance to find out where all the political parties stand on the vital issues of concern to us and our children.
