A DOCUMENTARY ON THE WODAABE TRIBE
40 mins, 2009
A nomadic people originating from northern Nigeria and southwestern Niger, this film documents their Tuareg seasonal festival where the young men, with elaborate make up, feathers and other adornments, perform flamboyant dances and songs to impress marriageable women, rolling their eyes and showing their teeth to emphasise the tribe's ideals of male beauty. Hosted by ethnographical filmmaker Shona Hamilton.
